"Medena" (Honey-Sweet)

Baked plum-brandy with honey, "Medovača", "medna rakija", "medova rakija", "medica" are the names for brandy to which honey is added, but there is only one honey brandy of the Zarić Distillery called "Medena".

Brandy made with honey belongs to one of the oldest traditions of brandy enriching in our areas, by which a healing, refreshing and cheering up drink used to be produced. In the past, young couples were recommended temperate consumption of brandy with honey in the first month of marriage, to keep fresh and improve health. The expression "honey moon" originates from this national tradition.

Our "honey brandy" is produced by adding honey, propolis or royal jelly resulting in the impressive combination which has a strong taste of baked brandy and tender tone of honey. Top quality types of honey are used for the production of this brandy, resulting in a fine blend with the baked brandy in a harmonious proportion.

Characteristics

This brandy has a golden colour due to added honey and a full and rich flavour. The flavour is characterized by pleasant, rich and medium-long honey taste.

It is recommended to be served at room temperature, usually as aperitif, but due to its rich honey taste it may go well with fruit desserts or chocolate cakes.
