Požegača plum cultivar is a distinguished cultivar in the production of top quality plum-brandy such as our brands "Kraljica" and "Povlenka". Other than “Crvena ranka” cultivar, no other plum cultivar can compete with it in terms of quality and sweetness in brandy production.

It is very sensitive to frost and plum pox virus and only experienced plum growers do decide to grow this sensitive cultivar. It belongs to medium abundant cultivars with a shallow root and long and slim branches rich in fruit. “Požegača” fruits are smaller than other, newer plum cultivars.

"Požegača" ripens at the end of August, and in the area of Kosjerić even by the beginning of September due to higher altitude. Late ripening brings an ideal proportion of sugar and acids and make it the best quality plum in the world from which the best plum brandy is made.
